Ann Arbor Rowing Championship- Sat, 4/14
Rowers should be dropped off at 4250 Geddes Road which will be the east entrance to Concordia University. The start line is at Concordia and the finish will be at Gallup Park and the best viewing will be at Gallup, a little east of where the canoe livery is located.
Space is limited for parking at the apartment complex at Concordia and it is encouraged for spectators to view the races from Gallup Park at 3000 Fuller Rd. (Entrance is across from Huron High School.) The riverside location at Concordia is meant for boat and rower traffic only and not spectators. Gallup only has a finite number of parking spots available so it would be best if you park at the Concordia campus and carpool back to Gallup. Biking may be a possible option as it looks like the weather will be sunny and cool in the morning. (While biking west on Geddes from Concordia can be challenging because of a narrow road, a paved off-road bike path goes east from Concordia, across US-23 to Dixboro, and then south across Geddes Dam to a path that runs the full length of the regatta course, with prime viewing throughout.)
Coach Rich would like the rowers there at 7:00am. Races begin at 9:00am and will continue until approximately 1:30pm – 2pm. Only rowers will be fed at the food tent as this will be one common tent for ALL Ann Arbor rowers at the Concordia site. Spectators should plan on bringing a snack if it’s needed. Pioneer will have Crew Brew available for purchase and Skyline will be selling light snacks & beverages. There is also a small cafe & vending machines located at the canoe livery at Gallup Park.
No formal carpooling will be done so families will be responsible for getting their rowers to and from the Concordia drop-off site.
